REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) took Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte to undergo his famous impromptu visit known as blusukan to Tanahabang market, Central Jakarta, on Friday (9/9).
Jokowi arrived at the market at 13.55 pm. Trade Minister Enggartiasto Lukita welcomed him and took Jokowi to the waiting room. Not more than 10 minutes later, Duterte arrived.
Wearing white shirt, Jokowi greet Duterte at the main enterance Tanahabang Block A. The two leaders immediately caught the attention of vendors and buyers. Jokowi and Duterte greet people at the ground floor up to the Block B.
After 30 minutes walking around, Jokowi and Duterte left Tanahabang. They went straight to the Presidential Palace for bilateral meeting.
Cabinet Secretary Pramono Agung said, many heads of state, including Duterte wanted to experience Jokowi's famous blusukan.
"The world leaders are asking for it," he said at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Friday.
Pramono said that Jokowi wanted to give an example to the world leaders not to manage problem only from behind the desk. The leader also must come directly to the field to see the real problem. "Because the problem can not only be seen from the planning, desk, and others," he said.
