REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) has detained six Indonesian fishermen for fishing illegally in the Kendi Island Waters, Pinang Island, Tuesday (9/6). As reported Kosmo, the fishermen who were arrested Monday (5/9) at 05:24 pm local time comprising of a Tekong, and five crews with age 15 to 35 years

Deputy Director of Regional Operations of Maritime 2 Pinang Island Azman Samsudin said the fishermen were arrested when their army was running Special Operations of Satria Utara in these waters. Troops felt suspicious to the boat and found six Indonesian fishermen on board. He said the fishermen can't show official documents to entry Malaysia. 

According to Azman, all fishermen were admitted came from Pantai Labu, Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia. The Malaysian authorities seized their capture with weight 100 kilograms with fishing equipment.

"The fishing boat has been taken to the Jati Limbungan Batu Maung for further investigation," he said.

Minister Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia, Trigustono Supriyono said he will ask consular access to meet the fishermen who were detained. While the Cunsellor Consular Affairs of Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia, Minister Counselor of the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia promised to forward the information to the Consul-General of Indonesia to Penang.
