REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - West Java Police's Drug Unit has seized 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine from two dealer networks, and has arrested five suspects.

"We have successfully busted two drug trafficking cases and have seized a total of 1.3 kilograms of methamphetamine from the suspects who had different roles in their networks," said Deputy Chief of West Java Police's Drug Unit, Cahyo Hutomo, during a conference to explain the case at the West Java Police Headquarters in Bandung, on Monday.

He further explained that to begin with, a suspect, identified through his initials PG, was arrested on August 15 from a house he had rented in Bandung's Sukasari region.

The police searched the suspect's Honda Jazz car and found two large methamphetamine packages concealed under the seats.

At PG's residence, the police found a small cardboard box containing dried marijuana leaves, 48 packs of small zip-lock bags, a pack of medium-sized zip-lock bags, a roll of aluminum foil and a methamphetamine inhaling device.

"PG's interrogation revealed that the suspect had still kept some of the drugs at his residence, and we found more evidence in the form of 81 packages of methamphetamine," he revealed.

The authorities then further followed up on the leads and arrested a suspect, identified by his initials NK, from whom they seized 20 methamphetamine packages, a digital scale and four cellphones.

Suspect NK admitted that the drugs were from Jakarta and were to be transported to Bandung as per the order of a convict detained in the Subang detention center.

The modus operandi was to place the contraband at a particular place, without revealing the identity of the buyer or seller.

"After the drug was picked up, it was taken to NK's residence to be put into small packages," disclosed the Deputy Chief.

In another case uncovered by the West Java Police, a suspect from Cicaheum district with the initials DA was arrested from a Wanaraja bus that was traveling from Jakarta to Garut when it was parked at a resting area on July 17.

Following a search, four zip-lock bags containing meth crystals were seized from the suspect's backpack.

Suspect DA said the iillicit goods belonged to ATO, who the police is still searching for.

"Both the suspect and the evidence were taken to the regional police headquarters for further investigation," noted Hutomo.

Collectively, in both cases, a total of 1,350 grams of methamphetamine was seized, valued at 2 billion rupiahs.

All suspects have been charged with Indonesian law number 35 of 2009 about narcotics and may face a maximum of 20 years behind bars.
