REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Wiranto arrived in border area in Papua on Thursday. Wiranto welcomed by the frontier people with expression of loyalty to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Wiranto visited Papua along with Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Panjaitan to see condition in the country's easternmost and most backward region.
Community leader Steven Patipaye read out the statement of loyalty to the state after handing over the Red and White to other leaders of the community living in the frontier area.
Wiranto said he was pleased and proud to hear the border people expressing their loyalty to the Indonesian state.
The ceremony, that took place at border gateway Skouw in Jayapura, was also attended by Australian Attorney General George Brandis and Ambassador Paul Gripson.
Brandis thanked to Wiranto and Luhut for the invitation and that he was glad to be able for the first time to visit Papua and see the condition in that region.
"The people show that they are proud of being part of Indonesia and I appreciate that as I have seen the situation and condition myself," Brandis said.
