REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Police have coordinated with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to block content on certain websites that reflected a call to radicalism.
"We have cooperated with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics to block content that spreads radicalism," head of the public relations division of the National Police, Inspector General Boy Rafli Amar, said here on Monday.
The Facebook accounts that are being used as a medium of communication the ISIS fighter from Indonesia, Bahrun Naim or Kitabah Gigih Rahmat (KGR) group, will also be blocked.
"If possible, these will be blocked so that the contents therein are not accessed by people. Bahrun's online materials also fall in that category. It is hoped that these will not be used as a reference by irresponsible people," he said.
He said the police would monitor Bahrun Naim who could train others to serve his terrorist cells via online networks.
"He could conduct online training. He could ask his terrorist cells here (in Indonesia) to carry out his orders by making an online connection," he said.
Boy Rafli said KGR is believed to be affiliated with Bahrun who is now living in Syria. KGR is also believed to have received training in bomb making through social network Facebook, he added.
"We must not underestimate this group," Boy Rafli said.
The police's Densus 88 anti-terrorist squad has arrested Gigih Rahmat Dewa along with five KGR members in Batam, Sumatra, recently.
GRD (31), Tar (21) and ES (35) were caught in Batam Center while TS (46) was caught in Nagoya and HGY (20) and MTS (19) were nabbed from Batu Aji, on Friday (Aug 5).
MTS was later released after he was found not connected directly with KGR.
They are still being intensively interrogated by the police in Batam to determine their respective roles in terror activity.
