REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAYAPURA -- The Papua provincial government is supporting the implementation of the tax amnesty program in an attempt to boost economic growth in Indonesia.
"The policy is a strategic program to encourage businesses to report their wealth," advisor to the Papua governor Annie Rumbiak noted here on Friday.
Rumbiak remarked that the government was seeking to boost economic growth in the country.
"One of the efforts is to invite entrepreneurs to invest their funds in the capital market," Rumbiak stated.
She noted that the taxpayers must utilize the tax amnesty policy optimally as part of the efforts to develop the nation's economy.
"The taxpayers should not ignore the tax amnesty regulation," she affirmed.
"People are encouraged to utilize the tax amnesty policy by declaring their property and assets that have not been reported in their annual tax assessment," she reiterated.
Director General of Taxation Ken Dwijugiasteadi had earlier pointed out that the Finance Ministry's Directorate General of Taxation would not conduct law enforcement related to the implementation of tax amnesty.
"The Directorate General of Taxation will stop all investigation processes related to tax crimes to support the tax amnesty program," Director General of Taxation Ken Dwijugiasteadi stated here at an event to spread awareness on the tax amnesty program at the Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.
The Directorate General of Taxation has prepared the regulation to stop all investigation processes related to tax crimes.
According to Article 2 of the Tax Amnesty Law, a tax amnesty should be offered under the principles of legal certainty, fairness, expediency, and national interests.
Article 3, Paragraph (3) of the Tax Amnesty Law also stipulates that taxpayers may request an amnesty except if they are being investigated and their investigation file has been completed or they are undergoing a criminal penalty in the taxation area.
Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati also remarked that she will stop all investigation processes related to tax crimes to support the policy.
"We will stop all investigations into tax crimes," she affirmed.
Taxpayers fear investigation of criminal offenses in the area of taxation.
"The taxation authorities will not apply pressure and will not intimidate taxpayers," the minister added.
Several complaints will be reserved for accepting reports of allegations of intimidation.
