REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo said here on Sunday that the next 15 years would be a transitional period for the country before it could take off as an advanced country.

"The momentum is the next 15 years. If we cannot use the time we will remain on the runway," he said before supporters and volunteers who helped him win the 2014 presidential election.

He said the government continued making breakthroughs to assure that the country could really take off.

"We have an opportunity until 2030. If we have a will we will be able to achieve it," he said.

He said for the past two years of his presidency he had seen almost all countries in the world faced economic pressures.

"Some can stand others saw their heads of state fall. Some countries collapsed because their economy also collapsed. Almost all countries experienced the pressures. None can escape from them," he said.

President Joko Widodo said he was grateful Indonesia could stand with its economy being expected to remain to grow at a five percent level.

"We wish this semester would be the turning point for our economy to thrive again," he said.

He said the government had continued taking deregulatory steps in the economic field, develop the infrastructure and conduct reform in the field of law.

"We will continue to conduct deregulation to settle complication in decision making so that we can make decisions fast and efficiently," he said.

Regarding infrastructure development President Jokowi warned that no one would play with land acquisition.

"Report to me if you find it and I will follow it up immediately soon after I receive it. I can assure it to you. I do want to see a case of a toll road project being left idle for 20 years again," he said.

The President also called for continued deregulatory efforts not only at central but also regional government levels.

With regard to reform in the field of law he has called for a total reform. "People must know that the law is also for them and not only for the rich," he said.
