REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON -- Five Indonesian students excelled in a debate competition at the European International Model of United Nations (TEIMUN) in The Hague, the Netherlands, noted a press statement from the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague.
According to the press statement received by Antara here, Tuesday, the five meritorious students comprise Anyssa Rizka, Kenneth Nicolas, Luther Lie, and Alifa Starlika from the University of Indonesia and Rayesha Hardono, an Indonesian student at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.
TEIMUN is the oldest Model of United Nations for university students held in the European region.
This year's TEIMUN themed "Pushing Boundaries: Pursuing a New State of Mind" was held on July 11-17 in The Hague.
The students engage in debates and discussions at the forum modeled on the similar lines as the UN assemblies to resolve cases involving nations across the world.
Some 200 students from 51 countries participated in TEIMUN 2016 in three categories: best delegate, most outstanding delegate, and honorable mention.
The competition was divided into seven councils: Historic Crisis Council, Human Rights Council, Security Council, General Assembly Council, North Atlantic Council, European Council, and International Court of Justice.
The Indonesian participants at the TEIMUN 2016 hailed from the University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, and the Indonesian State College of Accountancy.
Arman Raafi Seiff received an honorable mention at the Historic Crisis Council, Rizka was named the best delegate at the Human Rights Council, while Nicolas and Lie were announced the best delegates at the Security Council.
Meanwhile, Starlika was named the best delegate at the General Assembly Council, and Hardono was announced the best delegate at the European Council.
