REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- The consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in the three-kilogram (kg) cylinder category increased by seven percent during the post-fasting month Lebaran (Eid) festivities compared to regular days in Central Java and Yogyakarta.
The sale of LPG in the three-kg cylinder category rose to 3,159 metric tons (MT) per day from the daily average of 2,961 MT, state oil and gas company Pertamina's area manager of communication and relations for the Central Java-Yogyakarta marketing operation region, Suyanto, stated here on Friday.
The consumption of LPG in the three-kg cylinder category also rose by six percent as compared to the daily average of 3,141 cylinders recorded three days earlier, he revealed.
"The increase continued as public demand was quite high. I think the increase had something to do with Lebaran," he pointed out.
Suyanto said the consumption of the Bright Gas product also went up by 48 percent to 31 MT per day from the daily average of 21 MT on regular days.
However, the sale of LPG in the 12-kg cylinder, 50-kg cylinder, and bulk categories dropped respectively by two percent, 15 percent, and 13 percent during the festivities.
Data from the Central Java-Yogyakarta marketing operation region revealed that the daily consumption of LPG in the 12-kg cylinder category dropped to 206 MT from 211 MT during the January-May 2016 period, while the daily consumption of LPG in the 50-kg cylinder category fell to 45 MT from 50 MT in the first five months of 2016.
