REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,JAKARTA -- The National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) explained the chronology embankment collapse of Lapindo mudflow in Sidoarjo, East Java.
Head of Data Information and Public Relations BNPB Sutopo Purwo Nugroho said on Wednesday (29/6) night it was raining in the Tanggulangin subdistrict and Porong subdistrict.
"Due to the rain, embankment of Lapindo mudflow collapsed on Thursday.
(30/6) at 03.00 am at the 79 points so that the water spilled into settlements, but not enter the houses," Sutopo said on Thursday (30/6).
Then, around 08.00 am, Sidoarjo Mud Mitigation Agency (BPLS) have been handled these embankment.
"Now, the broken down embankment has been closed and the water has receded," he said.
As reported previously, the embankment of Lapindo mudflow in Gempolsari Village, Tanggulangin sub district has collapsed because can not curbed water flow. This makes water in ponds overflowing into rice fields. Because, the volume of water discharge in the pond is already equal with mudflow embankment.
