REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Regent of Tana Toraja, Nicodemus Biringkanae, has asked the government to support the construction of Buntu Kuni Airport in Tana Toraja District, South Sulawesi. He also asked budget amount of Rp 1.4 trillion to accelerate the completion of construction of Buntu Kuni airport.
"Yes we need extra budget as much as Rp 1.4 trillion," Nico said after meeting Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) at the Vice Presidential Office, Jakarta, Thursday (23/6).
He said the development of tourism industry in Tana Toraja need support from central government, especially the development of infrastructure include Buntu Kuni airport, because, the condition of these infrastructure is the main constraint of tourism development in Tana Toraja and North Toraja.
"The road condition is not good. The budget is less, and we ask for extra budget," he explained.
Meanwhile, members of House of Representatives from the Golkar faction, Marcus Nari, expected the construction of Kuntu Buni airport can increase the number of tourists who will visit to Tana Toraja.
"The Vice President Jusuf Kalla also promises to immediately discuss the extra budget for construction of airport. It will be discussed again," Marcus said.
