Merak Port prepares 57 ticket counters to anticipate homecoming flows

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CILEGON - A total of 57 counters will opened to face homecoming flows 2016 at Merak Port, Banten.

Special counters at two points the rest area is prepared to facilitate the travelers who will go to Sumatra Island.  Manager Operation of Merak Port Abdillah said the repair work targeted to be completed one week before Eid 1437 Hijri.

"We are predict that peak of homecoming flows five days before Eid," he said on Monday (20/6).

Abdillah also expect an increase of six percent vehicles than last year. Last year, as much as 12.800 four-wheel vehicles and more than 23 thousand passengers of ship through the port of Merak.

Meanwhile,  State-owned ferry operator PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry has provided 59 ships with good function.

"We are ready for operation of 56 ships, because three ships on dock schedule," he said.

He said as many as six ships will depart every day at the pier one and two. While in the dock three, four and five,  five ships will depart every day.

"So, total 27 ships a day and it sustainable," he said.
