MUI Lebak urges respect for those who fast

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEBAK -- The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Lebak, Banten, has urged people to respect people who are fasting during Ramadan 1437 Hijri by not eating and drinking in public places.

"Honor the people who are fasting," said the General Secretary of MUI Lebak District KH Ahmad Khudori in the Lebak on Wednesday (15/6).

He added, Muslims are fasting in Ramadan so all parties must contribute to keep the sanctity of this month. In the holy month of Ramadan, the Muslims are vying to seek reward. Therefore, tolerance and respect should be maintained so can create a conducive and peaceful atmosphere during fasting.

"People who are not fasting Ramadan should respect it by not eating and drinking in public places," he said. And also the non-Muslims can respect it. Besides, for owners of nightclubs to stop the activities during Ramadan.

"We ask, that Ramadan can improve the quantity and quality of worship by fasting, praying tarawih also other form of kindness," he said.
