REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KENDARI -- During January to April 2016, Bank Indonesia (BI) Representatives of Sultra (Southeast Sulawesi) have destroyed shabby or damaged money amount of Rp 456,56 billion.
Head of BI Representative of Southeast Sulawesi, Dian Nugraha said the shabby and damaged money that had been destroyed were compiled from the societies, especially traders.
"We destroys shabby money, and we replace it with new printing of money and the nominal of new money equal with damaged money," Dian said in Kendari, Wednesday (15/6).
Dian added, the worn money is destroyed consisted of denomination of Rp 1.000, Rp 2.000, Rp 5.000, Rp 10.000, Rp 20.000, Rp 50.000 and Rp 100.000. Besides, Dian continued, there are also a coin with nominal value of Rp 100, Rp 500, and Rp 1.000.
"If people have shabby or damaged Rupiah, you can exchange it at the bank. We will exchange the money shabby with new printing of money and same nominal value," Dian said.
Dian said the central bank now opening money exchange service to shabby or damaged money, including exchange small denomination at six points in Kendari city and the mobile car.
"For people who want to using the services of the shabby money exchange service, you can visit the places," he said.
According to Dian, value for money shabby destroyed during the January to April 2016 was lower when compared the destroyed of the damaged money in 2015. By 2015, Dian continued, BI Representative in Sultra destroyed worn or damaged Rupiah as much as Rp 876,55 billion.
