REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Taxation Director General of the Finance Ministry Ken Dwijugiasteiadi said tax receipts up to May 2016 totaled Rp364.1 trillion, down 2.3 percent compared with that in the same period last year.

"It dropped by 2.3 percent from that in the same period in 2015 which stood at Rp377.028 trillion," Ken told a press conference on the State Budget 2016 (APBN 2016).

He said that the Rp364.1 trillion tax revenue received until May this year accounted for 26.3 percent of the tax target set in the APBN 2016.

The Director general said the decline was attributed to the slowing down of the economy at home and the fact that the oil and gas export activities did not yet recover.

"Non oil and non gas income taxes as well as value added tax receipts fell three percent. The fall of oil price also drove down oil and gas income taxes by 17 percent," he said.

Besides, the director general said, tax restitution also increased by 39 percent. With regard to the value added tax, the director general had a burden of tax restitution amounting to Rp61 trillion.

"Now taxpayers who own tax restitution are withdrawing their tax restitution in the face of the government's plan to impose a tax amnesty policy," Ken added.

The finance ministry recorded that at the end of May 2016 the realization of state revenues and grant had reached Rp496.6 trillion or about 27.2 percent of the APBN 2016 target at Rp1,822.5 trillion.

The realization of state expenditure has reached Rp685.8 trillion, or 32.7 percent of the APBN 2016 at Rp2,095.7 trillion.

Based on the data on the state revenues and expenditure, the realization of the APBN deficit has reached Rp189.1 trillion, or 1.49 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

Data at the finance ministry showed that by April 16 , tax revenues totaled only Rp98 trillion or Rp7 trillion lower than in April last year.

Based on the trend, tax revenues are predicted to fall Rp300 trillion short of the yearly target.

Cumulatively, tax revenues in the first four months of the year totaled Rp283 trillion or 20.8 percent of the whole year's target of Rp1,360 trillion.

In the same period last year tax revenues totaled Rp309 trillion or 23.8 percent of the target.
