REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has targeted to remove 3.000 regional government regulations (Perda) problematic this week. Abolition of these regulations is part of the reform efforts of bureaucracy.
"I want to remove 3.000 regulations in this week without further study," he said at his office, on Thursday (9/6).
Thousands of problematic perda that will be removed are considered no longer relevant and hamper the bureaucracy. The President admitted that his agency had canceled a lot of other permits, such as electrical permits that originally there were 59 but now just 22.
Nevertheless, Jokowi feel still not satisfied. He want the licencing prosedures not exceed of five stages.
He also stressed the importance for Indonesia to have competitiveness in the era of competition nowadays. The competitiveness can be realized by providing certainty of licensing businesses.
