Govt urges House to complete tax amnesty bill

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Discussion of the tax amnesty bill is still not completed yet in the house of representatives (DPR). Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung emphasized the government wanted the discussion of tax amnesty bill can be completed.

"The government hope the discussion of tax amnesty bill resolved immediately," Pramono said in complex of Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Monday (6/6).

He added, the tax amnesty is needed by the government in the midst of the global economic slowdown. With tax amnesty, Indonesia can increase its revenue receipts from the people who save their money abroad.

"Indonesia is considered still has great opportunity, it is for Indonesians who have money and have good opportunity to bring back their money and not be questioned in the future," Pramono said.

Until now the discussion of the bill tax amnesty in the house of representatives (DPR) not completed yet. House Deputy Speaker Agus Hermanto said, some of factions has not agreed of tax amnesty bill.

But, he continued, DPR also expect tax amnesty bill may be passed to become law (UU). The design of this Act is an initiative of the government's proposal. Therefore, this bill is needed by the government to boost the revenue.
