REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State owned oil company PT Pertamina (Persero) held joint martial training with the theme of 'Woman Self Defense' on Thursday (2/6). Basic training for the female employees is given directly by President Director PT Pertamina Dwi Soetjipto who is swordsman of ‘pencak silat’.
Dwi revealed, the idea of organizing the event is based on more reports about abuse and violence on women. To anticipate unexpected situations, his company initiated the first training session in Ballroom, Pertamina Building, Jakarta. This event was followed by approximately 60 employees.
"The incident can happen at any time, especially for female workers and often go home until the night. It is important to have knowledge about how to defend ourselves," he said.
They are given the knowledge about breathing technique, basic self-defense movement, weak spots of enemy, until anticipating the variety of possible conditions.
