REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LHOKSEUMAWE -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) inaugurated the operation of Gas Engine Power Plant (PLTMG) Arun in Lhokseumawe, Aceh, on Thursday (2/6).
President Jokowi wearing white shirt arrived at Arun in 9.35 am after departed from Banda Aceh. From Banda Aceh, Jokowi and his wife Iriana along with his entourage boarded with CN-295 aircraft owned by the Air Force from Sultan Iskandar Muda air base and landed at the Malikussaleh Lhokseumawe airport. The inauguration also attended by State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini Soemarno, president director of state owned company PT PLN (Persero) Sofyan Basir, Chief of the Presidential Staff Office Teten Masduki and Aceh Governor Zaini Abdullah.
Previously General Manager of PT PLN Persero Aceh area Bob Saril said PLTMG Arun can meet most of the demand for electricity in the Aceh province.
"The area in which is covered from Banda Aceh to North Sumatra," Bob said.
He said PLTMG Arun has capacity of 184 MW and connected with the Sub-System Northern Sumatra. PLTMG now can add the electricity capacity, and he hope the electricity crisis in Aceh will not repeat.
