REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUTA -- An Australian national, who had exhibited unruly behavior during an AirAsia Xtra XT-823 flight from Sydney to Denpasar, is now being threatened with deportation, according to the Bali and Nusa Tenggara Airport Authority.

"He could be deported, and we are working with the immigration authority in this case," Airport Authority Head of Region IV Bali and Nusa Tenggara Yusfandri Gona stated in Kuta, Badung, on Monday during a transport-related ministerial meeting of civil aviation in developing countries.

Yusfandri noted that 24-year-old Australian Dolden Aaron Gerrard was still being interrogated, and the process will be completed this week.

Besides Dolden as the perpetrator, the authority also summoned eight AirAsia Xtra crew members for obtaining chronology information on the passenger's unruly in-flight behavior.

The airport authority is also working with several agencies, such as the Immigration, Port Health, Sanglah Hospital, Airport authority's Civil Servant Investigators, and Ngurah Rai Airport Aviation Security.

However, a sanction is yet to be imposed on the Australian passenger on grounds of violating Law No. 1 of 2009 on aviation.

Dolden could also face the threat of criminal or misdemeanor punishment depending on the level of misconduct, he reported.

Earlier, during the AirAsia Xtra XT-823 flight, Dolden had reportedly spoken in a harsh and loud tone.

Although Dolden was appeased by the cabin crew, but he continued to speak harshly with the air crew and other passengers, who then reported to the pilot for further reporting the matter to officers on the ground.

Shortly after landing in Bali on Thursday afternoon, May 26, Dolden was escorted to the Ngurah Rai Airport Police's Port Security Unit (KP3) for further investigation.

"The passenger's actions were considered unruly as they could disrupt the flight," he added.
