REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Agus Martowardojo has asked the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) to increase the value of its infrastructure investment in member countries.

Certainty in the availability of infrastructure would be very important to realize the ambition of high and sustainable economic growth, Agus said at a meeting of the board of governors of the IDB here Wednesday.

"Infrastructure development is also in line with the five strategic pillars of the IDB's 10-year strategic framework and the focus of the Indonesian government," he said in a written statement.

At the IDB's highest forum as the leader of the Indonesian delegation Agus praised the progress that has been made by IDB in contributing to increase the economic and social growth of member countries in the past 41 years.

In 2015, the IDB extended financial and technical aid worth US$12.1 billion increasing 13 percent from the previous $10.7 billion.

As for Indonesia, based on the Blue Book 2015-2019 data, the IDB plans to offer them a loan worth $5.2 billion.

"Now, we have a commitment with the IDB in which they would extend $5 billion loan scheduled to be signed tomorrow (Wednesday)," Minister of National Development Planning Sofyan Djalil said Tuesday.

Indonesia and the IDB have also signed a Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) cooperation agreement for the period of 2016 to 2020.
