Iran's banks interested to invest in Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Iranian Minister of Economic Affairs and Finance Ali Taiebnia said two private banks in the country, namely Saman Bank and Parsian Bank were interested to invest in Indonesia's banking sector.

"Two banks of Iran have expressed desire to invest in Indonesian banking sector or they also proposed to build a new bank in Indonesia or purchased shares in Indonesian banks here," he said here on Wednesday.

The interest of the two Iranian banks to invest in Indonesia's banking sector was aimed at promoting banking system for both countries that will affect the progress or development of bilateral economic ties between Indonesia and Iran.

"We want and really hope banking system in both countries can work together. In promoting it, the initial activity is to hold correspondent banking between banking system of the two countries," he said.

The minister added communication process related to banking system for both countries continued to held.

The minister hoped both countries will increase economic ties through a banking system that promotes both countries' interest.

"Thus, the process of communication between Iranian and Indonesian parties was being held so closely related to a banking system for both countries," he remarked.
