REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Venezuelan national television broadcaster Globovision covered issues, including the strengthening and improvement of relations between Indonesia and Venezuela, during an interview with Indonesian Ambassador to Venezuela Mochammad Luthfie Witto'eng.

The interview, which lasted for 30 minutes, was broadcast live on May 18, 2016, according to a press release from the Indonesian Embassy in Caracas, Venezuela, received by Antara here on Thursday.

Globovision's interview specifically highlighted Ambassador Witto'eng's active role in improving bilateral relations between the two countries.

Julio Cesar Pineda, the presenter of the interview and a former Venezuelan ambassador to Kuwait, opened the program by seeking the ambassador's first impression of Venezuela upon arrival in the country.

Ambassador Witto'eng said that in addition to both countries having similar climatic conditions, Venezuelans were as amicable as Indonesians.

"The bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Venezuela should be improved in political, economic, and socio-cultural areas, mainly in the form of people-to-people contacts, by utilizing the visa-free facility offered to Venezuelans to visit Indonesia," he stated.

Regarding Indonesia's participation at international forums, the ambassador remarked that the country had played an active and significant role in the United Nations (UN).

Indonesia being elected as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council several times and leading many organizations, such as the Non-Aligned Movement and the G-20, are all testaments to Indonesia's key role, he pointed out.

In terms of diverse art and dance forms as well as gastronomic delights, which are quite interesting, Witto'eng will promote Indonesia's culture at various platforms.

This activity is expected to showcase Indonesia's cultural diversity to the Venezuelans.

According to the ambassador, mass media is important to spread information and knowledge, particularly to increase awareness about a certain country among the global community.

He hoped the interview will strengthen and enhance the relationship between Indonesia and Venezuela.
