REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GORONTALO -- Narcotics Unit of Gorontalo Police arrested a lecturer in one of university in Gorontalo. He was arrested for allegedly carrying dried marijuana leaves.

Chief of Public Relation Gorontalo Police Assistant Commissioner of Police (AKBP) Bagus Santoso said professor initial SM was carrying two packets of dried marijuana wrapped plastic in an envelope at Rajawali road, Gorontalo. According to police investigation, the marijuana obtained by SM from colleagues who also worked at one of the universities in Palu, Central Sulawesi.

"According to the National Identity Card (KTP) of SM, the address is Palu and we are still searching who give the dried marijuana packages to SM," said Bagus, Sunday (15/5).

Currently SM with the evidence has been detained in Gorontalo City Police Office for further investigation.

"Investigators are still coordinating with the Directorate of Narcotics Sulteng Police to reveal trafficking and drug abuse in the region of Gorontalo, and hope to arrest the perpetrators of this kind could open marijuana trafficking in Gorontalo province," said AKBP Bagus.

Bagus said people to stay away from narcotics and if the public informed about drug are asked to report to the nearest police.
