REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BEIJING -- China has urged Indonesia to immediately repatriate four Uyghur citizens now detained for their involvement in the Santoso-led terrorist network in Poso, Central Sulawesi.

The request was made during the fifth dialog on politics, law, and security between Indonesia and China and a series of bilateral meetings between Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Political, Security, and Legal Affairs Luhut Pandjaitan and Politburo members of the Central Committee of China's Communist Party and China's public security minister here on April 26-27.

Minister Luhut told Antara on Wednesday evening that China must respect the legal process in Indonesia.

"We must also be very careful as they have entered Indonesia using Turkish passports. This will be a lengthy process as they have also committed terrorism in Indonesia. They must undergo the legal process," he pointed out.

"If Chinese authorities wish to obtain information, they can come to Indonesia and work along with us. We cannot just send them home or deport them," according to Luhut.

Speaking in connection with the anti-terrorism cooperation between Indonesia and China, Luhut stated that the two countries had agreed to exchange intelligence information, increase communication, and share experiences through training programs, he revealed.

"We will continue to increase cooperation in future," Luhut affirmed.

Commissioner General Tito Karnavian, chief of the National Counter-terrorism Agency, remarked that 11 Uyghurs from China's province of Xinjiang had reportedly entered Indonesia.

"Five of them have been killed, while five others were arrested, and another one is still with the terrorist group led by Santoso," he noted.

On April 24, the Tinombala Operation Task Force shot death a member of the East Indonesia Mujahidin group led by Santoso alias Abu Wardah in Poso, Central Sulawesi.

The victim identified by the initials MF was found to be a foreigner from Uyghur, China. MF was killed after he attacked a member of the task force with a machete.
