REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PANDEGLANG -- The Pandeglang District Social, Manpower and Transmigration Department in Banten Province has been ordered to open a job center to facilitate job seekers, according to Pandeglang District Head Irna Narulita.

"I have ordered the Social, Manpower and Transmigration Department to open a job center to help school graduates in finding jobs," Narulita remarked here on Friday.

According to the district head, the number of unemployed will continue to increase after high school graduates recently attempted the national examination.

Based on data from the Department of Education and Culture, a total of 12,676 students appeared in the 2016 national examination for high school level and equivalent, and not all of them would pursue higher studies.

Therefore, Narulita stated that the Pandeglang district government wanted the high school graduates to have a better future, and therefore, they must be given the opportunity to either find a job or continue their studies.

Narulita also expressed hope that the schools in the district would also establish cooperation with the local companies in order to employ graduate students who were unable to study further.

"I laud the Pandeglang State Vocational School-1 (SMK Negeri-1), which has been working together with several companies, and in future, other schools can also replicate this practice," she affirmed.

Narulita added that through such cooperation, at least some of the high school graduates would directly be employed by the companies to help reduce the number of jobless.

In the meantime, secretary of the Pandeglang Department of Social, Manpower and Transmigration Hendri Drajat stated that the number of unemployed in the district reached some 57 thousand, or 12.34 percent of the total population.

He pointed out that the figure would further increase in line with more number of high school/equivalent students graduating this year.
