REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia secured a champion title at the men's double event of the India Badminton Open 2016 after two of its teams qualified for the semi-final round on Saturday.

Indonesian duo Angga Pratama and Ricky Karanda Suwardi defeated Ko Shung Hyun and Shin Baek Cheol from South Korea 21-18, 6-21, 21-19 in 50 minutes, while Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo beat V Shem Goh and Wee Kiong Tan from Malaysia 21-15, 21-17 in 34 minutes, the All Indonesia Badminton Association said on its official website.

"We had met them before at the New Zealand Grand Prix Gold 2016 and so we have been better prepared from the start," Angga said.

Kevin also said "We have met them before and so were better prepared to meet them with any kind of their styles. We were focused from the first game."

Both Angga and Ricky, and Marcus and Kevin were glad they would meet in the final round at the super-series event because it would mean Indonesia would win a title champion from the men's double event.

"We will play the best we can because we all seek points for participation in the Olympic Games," Marcus said.

Indonesia's mixed-doubles pair Riky Widianto and Richi Purpita Dili, meanwhile, will also play in the final round after beating their opponents-Bodin Issara and Savitree Amitrapai from Thailand-21-18, 13-21 and 21-7-in the semi-final round.

Riky and Richi will meet Lu Kai and Huang Yaquiong, who are ranked seventh, in the final round on Sunday.

They have met thrice before with the Chinese pair dominating with three victories.

"We are ready to meet any pair in the final round. We will play maximally," Richi said.
