REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) will conduct hair drug tests on regional head candidates in 101 regions, which will organize simultaneous regional head elections (pilkada) in 2017.
"During (pilkada 2015), some regions had involved the BNN while others did not. Now, every region will involve the (BNN)," Budi Waseso, the agency's chief, stated here, Friday, following the signing of a cooperation agreement between the BNN and Antara news agency on dissemination of news on drug prevention and eradication.
The agency will coordinate with the General Election Commission (KPU) that has set a requirement for all regional head candidates to be drug-free.
The KPU and BNN are expected to hold further discussions on the mechanism and process of conducting hair drug tests on pilkada candidates.
It usually takes three days to obtain the results of hair drug tests. The cooperation between the two bodies is expected to be included in the revised Law on Pilkada.
