REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, Biak -- The Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Lapan) will provide space education for students at various levels in the Biak Numfor district, Papua, in 2016.

Marwoto, the head of Satellite Control, Observation and Remote Sensing Atmospheric Apace in Biak said on Thursday that a special place will be prepared by Lapan in Biak where the students can get the space education.

"One of the equipments that we will bring in to support the education about space is a Celestron telescope that will be used by students to see the movement of the moon and sun," Marwoto said.

He also expressed hope that with such equipment, the potential of the talented students in Biak will be attracted to exploring the field of space science.

According to him, headmasters and teachers, whose students want to study space science, can offer to help Lapan.

"Lapan has a complete program on space education, so besides the students studying about space, Lapan will also introduce them with modern technological equipment," he stated.

To support space education programs for students in Biak, Marwoto said Lapan has prepared special personnel to assist the students in getting lessons on space.
