BIN (State Intelligence Agency) is considering the Australian Travel Advisory released recently as regular or normal warning for Australian Tourist going a broad. Earlier, the Australian Government’s travel warning was released responding to the media rumors on the possible attack of terrorist to Jakarta recently.
Travel warning or travel advisory by the Australian Government given to her tourist going to Indonesia does not indicate there is increasing dangerous situation caused by the increasing terrorist threat in Indonesia, it is considered normal or regular warning of the Government of Australia to her tourist going abroad. The Travel advisory is considered as permanent procedure of the Australian Government to protect the security of Australian citizens.
The security situation of Indonesia mainly Jakarta and other tourist destinations (Bali, Lombok and other tourist object scattered all over Indonesia) in term of awareness against the threat of terrorism is considered totally under control.
Lieut Gen (Ret) Sutiyoso, Chief of State Intelligence Agency (BIN) said, Indonesia should not ignore the Australian Intelligence may have the various information concerning the activities of terrorist in South East Asia. However Indonesia also should not exaggerate the warning.
Likely, Lieut. Gen Sutiyoso is also considering the travel warning given by the Australian Government to her tourist going abroad is just Standard Operational Procedure responding to the international security situation in all around of the regions. “The news concerning such kind of travel warning of Australian Government given to her tourist who are going abroad is not new for the Indonesian Security Officials.” Lieut. Gen Sutiyoso asserted.
However, Sutiyoso’s opinion maybe right because from a news at open sources information, we know that the intelligent of Australia has wiretapped several countries which is their assessment to be a threat for their national interest. One of country which is wiretapped by Australia is Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Australia’s intelligent has a more significant information from their access or their link in Indonesia whose reported to Australia that Indonesia’s situation doesn’t safe for Australia tourist after one media in Australia was reported that a sermont religious preach at one of mosque in greater Jakarta.
Lieut. Gen Sutiyoso the former Governor of Jakarta who was popular called Brother Yos, clarified that his office is always watching all the terrorist groups existing in Indonesia. Unfortunately according to the existing Law on Terrorism his office may not catch somebody which is believed as member of terrorist group before legal fact is approved by the Court. Lieut. Gen Sutiyoso is clearly to think on the preventive action against the terrorist action, the present Law on Terrorism is considered not enough.
Lieut Gen Sutiyoso is complaining to the limitation of the existing Law on Terrorism applied to his Office, but luckily the cooperation between his office and the Special Security Units to crash the terrorist is good. He said that the Law on Terrorism existing to day is considered to be necessarily revised by the House of Representative.
