REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SERANG -- Bank Indonesia predicted a fairly strong growth of 5 - 5.3 percent year-on-year for Banten's economy in the first quarter of this year.
Bank Indonesia (BI) chief representative for Banten Budiharto Setyawan attributed Banten's economic growth to household consumption which grew after a rise in regional minimum wage early this year.
Government spending and investment, however, are expected to remain below expectation, Budiharto said here on Monday.
The manufacturing industry is expected to grow stronger with the growing demand on the domestic market, he said.
The agricultural sector is also predicted to grow with harvest in the first quarter of this year.
The household consumption is predicted to grow thanks to increase in regional minimum wage.
Budiharto said inter-regional trade is predicted to grow in the first quarter of this year as a result of an increase in household consumption.
