REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TERNATE -- The Social Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa said the government has diverted Social Homes of Wasana Bahagia in Ternate of North Maluku Province as HIV rehabilitation center for eastern area of Indonesia.

"Previously, there was no HIV social home which was coordinated by the Social Ministry in the area. We provide the HIV social homes in Ternate for eastern Indonesian area," Parawansa said here Saturday.

The government has established two social homes as HIV rehabilitation centers in Medan of North Sumatra Province and Sukabumi District of West Java Province.

The ministry will coordinate with the local administration to fully utilize the social homes.

"We are testing the social homes in Ternate as an HIV center for eastern Indonesia area," Parawansa said.

The highest number of HIV patients in eastern Indonesia area totaling 24,000 are located in Papua Province.

The ministry will conduct a review on the HIV center capacity for Papuan people.

"We will coordinate with the local administration in Papua, whether they brought the patients to the Ternate Homes or they want to establish the HIV center," Parawansa added.

The ministry choose Ternate Social Homes as the HIV Center for the eastern Indonesian area because they already have a Technical Operation Unit.
