REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TULUNGAGUNG -- Floods inundated several residential areas and tens of hectares of farming areas in Tulungagung District, East Java Province, on Wednesday, following incessant heavy rains since Tuesday.

"Nothing we can do because floodwaters cover all embankment at a height of up to 50 cm," Suharti, 45, a local farmer in Sobontoro village, Boyolangu Sub-district, said.

Tulungagung District Head Syahri Mulyo visited flood victims in Sobontoro, Moyoketen and Gedangsewu villages.

Some 60 hectares of farming areas were flooded in the three villages.
