REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Head of Public Relations Jakarta Police Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal, denied that the investigator had intimidated Jessica Kumala Wongso (27) to confess if she had poisoned Wayan Mirna Salihin.
"There are no treatments that force Jessica to confess herself as a suspect," he said on Tuesday (2/2) at Jakarta Police headquarters.
Iqbal continued, police was treating Jessica objectively. She was given rest time, eat, and health service. There was no pressure during the interrogation.
Previously, lawyer of Jessica, Yudi Wibowo Sukinto said Jessica was forced to confess as murder of Mirna by Jakarta Police general crime division head Sr. Comr. Khrisna Murti.
Iqbal said Jessica's lawyer statement was a part of his defense strategy. He continued, in the process of investigation, police always put forward the principle of due process of law. This principle was the judicial system that should be based on aspects of a person's human rights enforcement.
