Police on Mirna murder case: We don't pursue confession

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Jessica Kumala Wongso (27) was arrested at Jakarta Police detention center as the perpetrator on Wayan Mirna Salihin (27) death case. The police investigators said that they didn't find the motive for this murder.

Head of Public Relations Sr. Commissioner Muhammad Iqbal conveyed that the police didn't need a motive to arrest the suspect. According to him, a number of evidences were enough to set the suspect in every case.

"We don't pursue the confession. We only need several evidences that direct us to the suspect," Iqbal said on Monday (1/2).

Iqbal explained the evidences that direct the police to Jessica already enough. However, they had two more evidences, as the mandatory terms.

"But we can't say what are and what kind of the evidences. We apologize," he added.

Mirna died after drinking coffee at Olivia Restaurant, Central Jakarta on January 6. Jessica arrived early and ordered a sazerac cocktail and Vietnamese coffee. Minutes after, Mirna and Hani arrived at the cafe. She later proceeds to drink coffee.

Shortly afterwards, she suffered from convulsions and began to foam at the mouth. She was rushed to the hospital, but died on arrival.
