REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The society must treat other people who have different sexual orientation humanely, for example, those who declared as lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT).

Clinical psychologist Sri Juwita Kusumawardhani said LGBT are the same human like us.

"In general, they will appreciate us, as we appreciate them as human," Juwita said.

She explained acceptance of LGBT didn't mean people should be one of them. Until today, there was no strong research that proved whether LGBT was a genetic problem.

LGBT considered a combination of genetic, hormonal, and social factors. That hormonal condition can be influenced by the condition of pregnant women who experience stress and consume certain medicines during pregnancy. Furthermore, the maternal immune system also assumed to be one of the reasons.

Meanwhile, social factors have significant influences on LGBT such as those who never had a father or mother figure in their life.
