REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG -- Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo claimed that his region was ready to promote its key products such as furniture, batik, metal works, and jamu (traditional herbal elixir) in the ASEAN market.

"These are our main products. Hopefully, we can market these products globally through the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)," Ganjar stated here on Tuesday.

Currently, the Central Java government is urging every district to register their key products to be promoted overseas.

The efforts to market the products overseas would be made through the Indonesian ambassadors, especially in the ASEAN region, Ganjar remarked.

Ganjar also hoped that Indonesian products would flood the ASEAN market.

"Besides this, we will organize road shows in ASEAN countries to offer the local products with all their features," Ganjar noted.

The governor also hoped that financial institutions would assist these small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by providing them the required working capital.

"We can utilize the government's loan scheme under the micro credit program (KUR) for micro businesses. The president has urged to lower the interest rate to nine percent in 2016," Ganjar affirmed.

According to the initial plan, the government will distribute Rp130 trillion across the country through the loan scheme in 2016.

Ganjar expects that Central Java would utilize some of the distributed funds from the scheme in an organized, accurate, and uncomplicated manner.

"The SME players would have a good starting capital through the micro business loan scheme. Besides this, mentoring will also be offered to ensure good working quality on grounds that the products must also be good," Ganjar explained.

The locals must also enhance their skills to produce high-quality products," Ganjar added.
