REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The government will protect all Indonesian citizens, including ex-members of the controversial Nusantara Daybreak Movement, locally known as Gerakan Fajar Nusantara or Gafatar, according to a state official.
Speaking to the press at the Presidential Palace complex here on Wednesday, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung remarked that the government will certainly stand by all Indonesian citizens regardless of wherever they are.
"To this end, the president has requested the coordinating minister for political, legal and security affairs, the home affairs minister, the national police chief, and the TNI chief to resolve the issue," Anung affirmed.
According to the cabinet secretary, all Gafatar members who were attacked in Mempawah, West Kalimantan, have been completely relocated.
He said the government will take action after studying the case.
"The government is responsible and obliged to protect all residents, including Gafatar members who were attacked," Anung emphasized.
