REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- State-owned arms company PT Pindad has set a target of Rp3 trillion for selling its main weaponry systems and arms components during 2016, President Director Silmy Karim has stated.

"Pindad's selling has continued to increase, and we are attempting to maximize the selling target in 2016 to Rp3 trillion," Karim said during the visit of Vice President Jusuf Kalla here on Wednesday.

In an effort to reach the selling target, Pindad has carried several measures, among others, the strengthening of business lines and networks, and cooperation with several companies in the country and abroad, including for product certification, Karim said.

"Panser Badak (Rhinos Panzer) has received product certification for combat vehicles by undergoing firing trials with canons," he explained.

Further, according to Karim, the quality recognition and certification showing that quality of PT Pindad's products can be accounted for and shown to be operating at the same levels as foreign products.

"We are grateful to the Ministry of Defense, the military and police that take part in assisting in the purchasing contracts with Pindad," Karim pointed out.

Vice President Jusuf Kalla, during the visit, was accompanied by Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu and West Java governor Ahmad Heryawan.
