REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARMASIN -- Coal mining company PT Adaro Indonesia has built an integrated warehousing complex over a 150 hectares of land in South Kalimantan.

The complex was built by Adaro's subsidiary Adaro Persada Mandiri (APM) to support the operation of the country's second largest coal producer in that area.

Head of the Regional Integrated and Support Area (RISA) Benidictus Aryudi Oktavian said in Balangan on Monday the warehousing complex was built to integrate workshop and warehouses in the region.

"RISA will provide not only warehousing service for Adaro's coal contractors, but also will accommodate other needs of warehousing service," Benedictus said.

RISA have a number of advantages with its "Water Treatment Plant" (WTP) to serve the lessees.

In addition, APM cooperates with state electricity company PLN to provide power facility and with state-owned telecommunications company PT Telkom Indonesia and its subsidiary Telkomsel to provide telephone and internet services, he said.

Supporting infrastructure such as drainage system, street lamps and vegetation have been prepared and available.

"We hope that RISA would also significantly benefit the regency of Balangan as it would be tax object contributing to the area income," he said.

He said the investment in RISA is a positive indicators that the area is a conducive investment destination.

RISA has a complete set of equipment that it could be used by local students for apprenticeship.

RISA is the first integrated warehousing complex in South Kalimantan Selatan. The integrated system would make it easier in control, and in the aspect of licensing by the government.

Unfortunately, there are not many companies using the facilities of RISE which started operation in June 2015.

Benedictus said so far only seven companies have operated in that area including PT Sapta Indra Sejati (SIS), PT United Tractor (UT), PT Hexindo Adiperkasa, PT Trakindo Utama, PT Verdanco Engineering, PT Hidup Baru and PT Yerry Primatama.

The seven companies occupy 44 hectares of the RISA complex. Meanwhile PT APM plans to build a second phase of RISA.

Falling price of coal caused weak demand for the warehousing service. Many companies have to put off operation plan as a company will pay billions of rupiahs for a place at RISA under 20-year contract.

The condition, however, would not change plan by APM to continue its second phase development of RISA in smaller size, Benedictus said.

"We also are preparing smaller parcels with lower tariff to be more efficient for the lessees," he said.
