REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, GUNUNG KIDUL -- The Gunung Kidul district government in Yogyakarta has appealed to local residents to be wary of banned organizations such as the Nusantara Daybreak Movement (Gafatar).
"The Gafatar organization in Gunung Kidul district has been banned, and now, its existence is no longer detected, but the people should remain wary of its activities," local government spokesman Nugroho remarked here on Wednesday.
Nugroho expressed hope that the local people would not attempt to join the organization whose direction and purpose are unclear and detrimental.
"We expect the local people to increase their vigilance against this organization, and immediately report to the local authorities if there are any unfamiliar guests in the neighborhood," he said.
Meanwhile, Gunung Kidul Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Hariyanto expressed hope that community and religious leaders would offer the local people insights into religion, so that they do not become victims of a banned organization.
"We hope all relevant parties would cooperate to prevent a banned organization in Gunung Kidul," he added.
