Indonesia's toys go international

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Director General of National Export Development Ministry of Trade Nus Nuzulia Ishak said, Indonesia's toys would be equated with toy products from the United States, Japan, France, Italy, South Korea, Britain, and Spain.

Indonesia's toys would be on display in Hong Kong Toys Exhibition and Games Fair on 11th to 14th January 2016 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. Nus said, this annual event was a meeting point of the world buyers with a variety of suppliers.

"It's a chance for Indonesia to show quality toy products to the buyers of the world," said Nus, Monday (11/1).

In 2015, the exhibition has attracted more than 42 thousand buyers from 126 countries and it was followed by more than 1,990 participants from 40 countries including USA, Canada, India, France, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea.

This exhibition displayed products, such as candy toys, educational toys and games, electronics and radio control toys, festive and party items, hobby goods, magic items, outdoor and sporting items, paper products and toy packaging, smart-tech toys, soft toys, dolls, and kitchenware toys.

"In previous exhibition we managed to reap potential of trade amounted to 2.76 million US dollars, and this time we hope to achieve a greater trade," Nus added.

Hong Kong was ranked 9th as a toy importers to Indonesia with products such as tricycles, scooters, pedal cars and other wheeled toys. The five largest export destination countries of Indonesia's toys from January to October 2015 were the United States, Britain, Singapore, Japan, and Germany.

Global toy market was predicted to increase by 6 percent in the next two years. Trends of Indonesia toy exports to Hong Kong increased in the last five years, reaching 11.91 percent with a value of 10.79 million US dollars.
