Leonardo DiCaprio wants to visit Palembang

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- Governor of South Sumatra Alex Noerdin reiterated desire of a Hollywood actor and environmental activist, Leonardo DiCaprio, to visit Palembang, South Sumatra.

"Desire of Leonardo DiCaprio to come to South Sumatra was delivered after a special interview session with Governor of South Sumatra in Paris, in World Climate Change Conference COP 21, beginning of December 2015," said Alex Noerdin, Monday (4/1).

Alex Noerdin revealed, the actor who starred in Titanic was willing to come to South Sumatra as an environmental activist.

"He told me that he has Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. His foundations in Indonesia involved in saving the forest ecosystem in Lauser, Aceh," he added.

Alex Noerdin explained, actor born in California 11th November 1974 agreed to come to Indonesia, especially to Palembang, South Sumatra. But, he did not mention the right time.

Leonardo DiCaprio, in Paris, uploaded a photo in his Instagram account @leonardodicaprio and invited people to join safeguarding of the environment, especially ecosystem in Mount Leuser, Aceh.

“It is one of the most important tropical forests in the world and The Last Place on Earth where tigers, orangutans, rhinos and elephants share the same habitat,” wrote the actor who played a role in Romeo + Juliet in 1996.
