Gili Trawangan produces 20 tons of garbage per day

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NORTH LOMBOK - Head of Gili Indah Village Taufik revealed, production of garbage from local communities and business in Gili Trawangan reached 20 tons per day. But garbage disposal area of ​​22 acres located in the middle of Gili Trawangan was no longer able to accommodate.

"The production of garbage in low session reached 12 tons per day and 20 tons per day in high season. It gradually will become a time bomb and is exploded," he told reporters in Gili Tarawangan, Tuesday (22/12).

He admitted that he had proposed to the provincial government to put up half a hectare of land for temporary garbage disposal place. However, until now there has been no response from the government.

Moreover, with an area of ​​Gili Trawangan, which reached 338 hectares, the ship carrying garbage from Gili Trawangan was only able to accommodate two tons of garbage.

"Garbage that is managed by the village at a cost of Rp 50 thousand to Rp 1.5 million, depending on the amount of the garbage," he added.

According to him, Gili Tarawangan not only has problem of garbage, but also other problems, such as infrastructure. Several tourists still complained about street lighting. They also suggested that some locations need to be accompanied by CCTV.
