KOI announces several venue changes for Asian Games 2018

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) announced a change in venue of few sports that would be contested at Asian Games 2018.

According to Deputy Chairman of KOI Muddai Madang, change of venue was done after considering several factors, such as infrastructure and accessibility of spectators of the event. He said, four sport arena, namely cricket, softball, handball, and rugby, moved from Palembang to Jakarta and its surrounding areas.

"Softball field in Senayan is better. If it was held in Palembang, who wants to watch?" said Muddai, in a press conference in Jakarta, Tuesday (22/12).

While, other sports, such as table tennis, sepak takraw, bridges, and water skiing still would be held in Palembang. In total, there are 15 sports to be held in Palembang, including football.

He also revealed that the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) has approved the decision to move several venues of Asian Games 2018.
