REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Former Speaker of People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Amien Rais stated, hearing of DPR's Ethic Council (MKD) related to ethic case of Setya Novanto and contract extension of Freeport, must be a momentum to make Freeport to be owned by Indonesia.

"The case of Freeport is momentum to take Freeport back to Indonesia in 2021," said Amien Rais, at the Parliament building, Monday (14/12).

Amien revealed, there were some fatal errors of Freeport. First was damaging environment by disposing gold processing waste. Then, the company paid tax to the state in small amount.

Related to a letter of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said about promise to give contract extension to Freeport, Amien considered that there were financiers who made Sudirman Said dared to give such guarantees. Amien hoped MKD's hearing could be used to end domination of the United States in Papua.

"I hope that all witnesses can be opened, and Setya Novanto can explain all the problems. The original recording must be presented so everything is opened and it can provided the best solution for Indonesian people," he explained.
