REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned oil and gas company Pertamina has guaranteed that fuel oil supplies during Christmas Day celebrations will be adequate.
"Supplies are secure. We have enough stocks to last for about 20 days. Such an amount of buffer stock is adequate," Pertamina President Director Dwi Soetjipto said after attending a function here on Tuesday.
He said his office is adopting the same strategy as Pertamina did in the face of Ied al Fitr celebrations this year. So, there will be no shortage of supplies.
"We will put in place the same supervising team as we did at the time of Ied al Fitr. It will work as per the same concept so that supplies are monitored well nothing goes wrong in distribution," the Pertamina president director noted.
PT Pertamina Marketing Operation Region (MOR) IV for Central Java and Yogyakarta has begun to stock fuel oil for year-end needs, particularly in view of the Christmas Day and New Year 2016 celebrations.
"We have stocked adequate amounts in view of Christmas and New Year. So far, we have faced no constraints because this is a condition that we routinely face every year," said General Manager of PT Pertamina MOR IV for Central Java and Yogyakarta, Kusnendar.
He predicted that the increase in the oil consumption this year end would not be as much as it was during Lebaran, or Ied al Fitr festivities.
Based on trends in the past, the fuel oil consumption at the yearend increases by about 10 percent while during the Lebaran festivities, consumption rises by up to 40 percent.
"On a normal or regular day, consumption of premium gasoline in Central Java and Yogyakarta reaches 10 thousand kiloliters. In case of pertalite gasoline type, it reaches 1.5 to two kiloliters per day for each refueling station (SPBU). The same thing is also true for the Pertamax type gasoline. Our prediction is that consumption in case of each gasoline type will increase by about 10 percent during the Christmas and New Year festivities," asserted Kusnendar.
Regarding fuel oil distribution at individual SPBUs in Central Java and Yogyakarta, Pertamina said it has prepared a plan in view of Christmas and New Year celebrations.
"Our colleagues at fuel oil terminals have made the preparations. We hope everything will go on smoothly," he said.
