KPK ready to carry out supervision in Freeport case

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) claimed to be ready to carry out coordination and supervision related to cases of the use of name of the President and Vice President in contract extension PT Freeport. However, KPK would begin when the Attorney General has submitted the Notice of Commencement of Investigation (SPDP).

"Usually supervision of cases is preceded by SPDP," said Acting Deputy Chairman of KPK, Johan Budi, at KPK building, South Jakarta, Tuesday (8/12).

The case was now being handled by the Attorney General. According to Johan, the Attorney General was still investigating, so that KPK would await for the next steps to be undertaken by Attorney General.

Previously, the Attorney General was investigating case of contract extension of Freeport which was allegedly involving the House Speaker Setya Novanto, President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia Maroef Sjamsoeddin, and businessman M Riza Chalid.

The Attorney General also have asked information from Maroef Sjamsoeddin and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Sudirman Said.
