REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Coalition of Anti-Corruption Community will hold a rally in front of the Parliament Building here on Tuesday at 1 p.m. local time.
Some members of the coalition will enact "Clean the Parliament" street theater and issue a statement regarding the Freeport case involving House Speaker Setya Novanto during the rally, the coalition said in a statement.
"Lately, we have been entertained with a political joke by the dishonorable members of parliament. The hearings of the Novanto case by the House's Ethics Tribunal cornered the whistle-blower who wants to expose the oil and gas mafia. Rather than deliberating more important laws, the Parliament, in fact, will revise the Law on the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK)," the coalition's spokesman, Wana Alamsyah stated.
Alamsyah also reminded the House of Representatives (DPR) to not select unworthy figures to lead the KPK.
"The DPR must select KPK leaders who are committed to eradicating corruption. Do not wrongly select leaders who have vested political interests that could destroy the KPK from within," he emphasized.

The public has been reacting strongly through an online petition, social media, and rallies, but they do not listen and forget to whom their dedication should be, he noted.
"On the Anti-Corruption Day on December 9, let us demonstrate that the people are loyally urging them to meet their promises and pledges. The people have the power to remove those who are 'NOT SETYA'," he emphasized.
"Setya" is the Indonesian word for "loyal."
The coalition comprises the Indonesian Corruption Watch, Transparency International Indonesia, Indonesia Budget Center, PWYP, YAPPIKA, and MAPPI.
The ongoing case concerning the audio recording of Novanto allegedly demanding shares in PT Freeport Indonesia (FI) has shaken Indonesian politics.
In the recording, which was secretly taped by PT FI President Director Maroef Sjamsoeddin when he met Novanto and oil businessman M. Riza Chalid in July 2015, the House speaker allegedly demanded some 20 percent shares of PT FI in exchange for helping the company seek an early renewal of its contract.
The House's tribunal called Minister Said on December 2 and Sjamsoeddin on December 3 to testify in hearings broadcast live by some national television stations, while Novanto was summoned on December 7 for a closed-door hearing.
