REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALU -- The Central Sulawesi provincial administration will promote Total Solar Eclipse (TSE) at several international airports in Indonesia.
The Head of the tourism office in the Central Sulawesi province, Siti Norma Mardjanu said on Thursday that the promotion of TSE will be carried out at the international airport in Medan (North Sumatra), Surabaya (East Java), Cengkareng (Jakarta) and Makassar (South Sulawesi).
The promotion, according to her, is not only to promote the TSE, but will also promote the tourist potential of Central Sulawesi.
Siti said the TSE promotion will be conducted by the Central Sulawesi provincial administration in December this year.
Currently, approximately 3,000 hotel rooms have been booked by foreign tourists, who want to see TSE in Palu, Luwuk, Ampana and Poso.
TSE is expected to attract thousands of tourists, and therefore it will motivate the local administration to develop its local tourism potential.
A total solar eclipse will take place on March 9, 2016.
A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the earth and the Sun. A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon's apparent diameter is larger than the sun's, blocking all direct sunlight, turning day into darkness.
TSE 2016 will occur in the narrow path across the earth's surface, with the partial solar eclipse visible over a surrounding region that is thousands of kilometers wide, beginning in Indonesia, and ending in the northern Pacific Ocean.
